Biography

Dr. Wayne Sailor is a Clinical Psychologist, Professor in the Department of Special Education at the University of Kansas, and Co-Director of SWIFT Education Center, a resource center that leads the nation in equity-based MTSS education, research, and services. His academic pursuits are focused on comprehensive school reform with the aim of transforming systems to integrate resources to benefit students through equity-based, inclusive education.  He has done research within the framework of Multi-tiered System of Support (MTSS), Response to Intervention (RTI), and schoolwide applications of Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS).  His work is extensively published in articles and books.  His present research and teaching are focused on emancipation of marginalized students through comprehensive school reform, emphasizing coherence across school, state agency, local education agency, regional systems, and schools in aligning systems of support to remove barriers to learning and equitably apply all resources, including new technologies, to students in whole school contexts driven by equity-based MTSS and universal design for learning (UDL) strategies.
