Biography

Josh Harsin is a graduate student in the joint MPH/PhD program in the School of Medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center and the Applied Behavioral Science Department at KU in Lawrence.

Josh works with several projects as part of his appointment with the Center for Community Health and Development, including two hospital-based violence intervention programs (Aim4Peace and REVIVE) and the Center’s work in assessing local juvenile justice systems for disparities. He also serves as a co-facilitator for the Youth Justice & Crime Prevention action team and is a liaison between the Center and our partners in Wyandotte County.

Josh’s research interests lie in public health policy, the criminal justice/carceral system, social/economic determinants of health, and decision-making. He studies these areas through a combination of behavioral economics and community-based participatory research grounded in behavioral and ecological philosophies

Josh is currently supervised by Dr. Jomella Watson-Thompson of the Center for Community Health and Development.
