Biography

Dr. Jennifer Counts is a Leadership Development and Research Project Director for the Life Span Institute, SWIFT Education Center. She began her service at the University of Kansas in 2021.  Prior to her role at KU, she was an assistant professor of special education and a special education teacher. Dr. Counts holds a PhD from Clemson University in special education with an emphasis on behavioral disorders. Her areas of research focus on disproportionality in discipline, coaching teachers in effective classroom management practices, effective practices for students with disabilities and  second language learners, and special education law and policy.
