Biography

Edward K. Morris (University of Illinois, M.A 1974, Ph.D. 1976) is a professor in the Department of Applied Behavioral Science (ABS), formerly the Department of Human Development and Family Life, at the University of Kansas. He was its chairperson between 2000 and 2015. He has been president of the Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI), the American Psychological Association’s (APA) Division 25 for Behavior Analysis and its Division 26 for the Society for the History of Psychology, and KU’s chapter of Sigma Xi. Currently, he is president of  ABAI’s Special Interest Group for the History of Behavior Analysis and the Kansas Association for Behavior Analysis. He is a Fellow in ABAI, APA Divisions 25 and 26, and the Association for Psychological Science. He has been editor of the The Behavior Analyst, The Interbehaviorist, and the APA Division 25 Recorder. In 2026, he founded the Center for the History of Behavior Analysis. His research is on the historical and conceptual foundations of behavior analysis, behaviorism, and psychology and on complementarities between behavior analysis and other behavioral, psychological, and social sciences. He teaches courses on the conceptual foundations of behavior analysis, the history of behavior analysis, the analysis of everyday human behavior, and the analysis of verbal behavior. His professional interests include the teaching and dissemination of behavior analysis.
