Biography

Dr. Choi, an Associate Research Professor at the Life Span Institute and Associate Director of Research and Evaluation for SWIFT Education Center, brings an extensive background in education and research. This wealth of experience provides him with the skills, expertise, and drive to make significant contributions to SWIFT projects.

Dr. Choi has served as a Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator on multiple federally and state-sponsored education projects. In these roles, he's spearheaded research and analyses, examining various facets to assess the efficacy of Equity-based MTSS and develop reliable assessments for implementation fidelity. These efforts directly inform his core research interests, which span school leadership, instructional and behavioral support systems (including social-emotional learning within an MTSS framework), and educational equity. Since its launch, SWIFT has achieved national recognition for its commitment to school-wide transformation, cultivating inclusive learning environments and ameliorating equity in education. This dedication has demonstrably enhanced academic and behavioral outcomes for all students, with Dr. Choi instrumental in effectively investigating SWIFT's impact on diverse student outcomes and identifying the malleable factors contributing to that success.
