Female participants needed for research on Fragile X gene premutation

The Biobehavioral Research on Autism, Intellectual and Neurodevelopmental disabilities (BRAIN) Lab is seeking participants for a study to understand brain changes during aging and whether the brain is affected by premutations of the Fragile X gene, FMR1.

A woman with ash blonde hair and black framed glasses works on a computer on a kitchen counter next to a glass of milk while wearing a white and grey dotted long-sleeved shirt in front of a window with daylight streaming in

This study is a good match if:

  • You are a woman age 60 to 75 years old
  • You have a premutation of the Fragile X gene (FMR1) or
  • You are a healthy individual

During the study, participants will:

  • Complete tests of brain function, motor skills, and thinking abilities
  • Be compensated up to $90 for their time

Testing will be completed at KU-Lawrence and KU Medical Center campuses. To inquire about participating, contact researchers at the phone number or email listed below or go to the BRAIN Lab website to fill out our eligibility survey. All procedures have been approved by the KU/KUMC Institutional Review Boards.
