Adapting the Diabetes Prevention Program for a Developing World Context
Rates of diabetes and cardiovascular disease are rising dramatically in the developing world causing significant challenges for health care systems of countries with scarce resources. This study will examine whether an adapted version of a proven lifestyle program can be effective when delivered by community health workers in a poor urban community in South Africa. If successful, the program could have a significant impact in reducing the harm from diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
