A Randomized Trial of Recommendations for Exercise to Prevent Weight Regain
Exercise has been recommended as a critical component for the prevention of weight regain, but the recommendations are often conflicting in amount of time and intensity necessary. This project aims to test recommendations from various organizations using a randomized trial in overweight and obsess sedentary adult men and women. Various markers will be monitored, such as resting metabolic rate, blood pressure and aerobic capacity. Weight loss will be monitored at various points. After a three-month initial period, participants that have lost more than 5% will be randomly assigned to groups with varying levels of physical activity. Participants will be monitored and measured for 12 months.
